We went to see the new Disney film last night, the Princess and the Frog. It was a cute movie and we really enjoyed it. Princess Tiana from New Orleans was especially likable because of her charm and hard-working spirit.
Of course there has to be animal friends in any Disney princess movie and this one was no different. There were some really fun animal characters like the alligator who loves to play the trumpet and a hillbilly firefly who is in love with the evening star whom he calls “Evangeline”.
The music in the film was wonderful and upbeat and the characters were very well done.
On the other hand, we come from a religious family and we were glad we didn’t bring the children. The voodoo and evil images were over the top to us and we decided not to bring our kids. I imagine it would be very scary to little children in some scenes. Unfortunately it will be the first Disney Princess movie our kids will not see which makes us and them sad.
I hope the next Disney princess movie will be done with young kids in mind.

I agree that the voodo and black magic in this movie was way over the top and scary for young kids. My kids did watch it with me and they were not scared but appalled. Many familys left the movie theater. I hope that they do better next time too!
